When our vehicles need maintenance, we are always troubled by how to choose lubricating oil. Today, we will popularize the issue of choosing lubricating oil. How should we choose the lubricating oil that suits us?

  1. Understand the requirements of the vehicle or equipmentDifferent vehicles and machinery have different requirements for lubricating oil. For example, automotive engine oil needs to meet the specifications set by the vehicle manufacturer, such as API (American Petroleum Institute) specifications, ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association) specifications, etc. You can refer to the vehicle or equipment's user manual to clarify the specific specifications and grades of the required lubricating oil.
  2. Consider the operating environment
    • TemperatureIn high-temperature environments, lubricating oil needs to have good high-temperature resistance to prevent the oil film from breaking and oxidizing; in low-temperature environments, lubricating oil is required to have good low-temperature fluidity to ensure it can quickly reach all lubricating parts during startup. For example, in cold regions during winter, multi-grade oils with good low-temperature fluidity, such as 0W-20, 5W-30, etc., should be chosen.
    • HumidityIn humid environments, lubricating oil needs to have good rust prevention and anti-emulsification properties to prevent moisture from corroding the equipment.
    • Dust and impuritiesIn dusty working environments, lubricating oil needs to have good filtration and anti-pollution capabilities to effectively block dust and impurities from entering the equipment, reducing wear.
  3. Determine the type of lubricating oil
    • Mineral oilRelatively low in price, suitable for some equipment with low lubrication requirements and mild working conditions.
    • Synthetic oilHas better performance, such as high-temperature stability, low-temperature fluidity, oxidation resistance, etc., suitable for high-performance engines, turbocharged engines, or equipment under harsh working conditions. Semi-synthetic oil is a mixture of mineral oil and synthetic oil, with performance and price between the two.
    • Special lubricating oilFor some equipment with special requirements, such as food processing equipment, medical devices, etc., it is necessary to use dedicated lubricating oil that meets the corresponding industry standards, such as food-grade lubricating oil, which has characteristics such as non-toxic, odorless, and not easy to breed bacteria.
  4. Pay attention to the performance indicators of lubricating oil
    • ViscosityViscosity is one of the most important performance indicators of lubricating oil, reflecting the thickness of the lubricating oil. If the viscosity is too high, it will increase the operating resistance of the equipment, leading to energy loss; if the viscosity is too low, the oil film is prone to break, failing to provide sufficient lubrication protection. The appropriate viscosity of lubricating oil should be selected according to the requirements of the equipment.
    • Flash pointThe flash point is the minimum temperature at which lubricating oil can produce a flash fire when heated under specified conditions and comes into contact with a flame. The higher the flash point, the better the safety of the lubricating oil, making it less likely to ignite and burn in high-temperature environments.
    • Pour pointThe pour point is the lowest temperature at which lubricating oil can flow when cooled under specified conditions. The lower the pour point, the better the fluidity of the lubricating oil in low-temperature environments.
  5. Choose reliable brands and channelsChoosing well-known brands and legitimate channels to purchase lubricating oil can ensure the quality and authenticity of the products. Well-known brands usually have stricter production processes and quality control systems, ensuring better product quality. At the same time, pay attention to check whether the product packaging and labeling are complete and clear to avoid purchasing counterfeit products.
  6. Consider economic factorsThe price of lubricating oil is also a factor in the selection. While meeting the lubrication requirements of the equipment, factors such as the service life of the lubricating oil and the oil change cycle can be comprehensively considered to choose products with high cost performance. Although synthetic oil is more expensive, its superior performance and long service life may make it more economical in some cases.
  7. Esso lubricating oilUses advanced lubricating oil production technology to ensure that every drop of oil meets national testing standards. We have leading digital and intelligent production equipment in the industry, providing strong hardware support for production. The Siemens 1500 series PLC intelligent blending system, fully automatic filling production line, and process design and equipment that exceed industry standards, with a total of 8 of the most professional automatic filling production lines. There are 2 antifreeze filling production lines. The automation rate of the filling production line reaches over 95%, and a single filling line can achieve a capacity of 1200 barrels per hour, enhancing "intelligence" to increase "volume".
